Episode 51: Moments in Italy Travel Share - Part 1

Welcome to Podcast #51,

I thought it would be great to share a little more of the adventure and what happened next in Italy on the journey from Liguria to Milan. On the last days of this recent trip there was much to savour and explore. I love the adventure of it all and the time to reflect on moments that continue to inspire along the way.

Camogli, in Liguria on the Gulf of Paradise
Wandering the streets in Italy and savouring all of the precious details. The colours of Camogli cannot help but make you happy.
Where I sat to record the last podcast, a little Fishermans village on the Ligurian Coast in Camogli, Italy.
A Mosaic detail from visiting the Benedictine Abbey of San Fruttuoso by boat on the Italian Riveria
A Railway Station with a View - Genova Nervi…. On the way to the Restaurant Bagni Medusa by the sea side.
Possibilites, enjoying pranzo (lunch) at the Bagni Medusa Ristorante on the seaside at Nervi, Liguria
Walking the grand streets of Milano on the high streets of fashion…
I mentioned the sighting of the luncheon scene where the movie the 'House of Gucci' was filmed. You can visit for the perfect lunch and a tour of the Museo Bagatti Valsecci and wander the fashion district on Via Monte Napoleone (this is not my favourite photo but I did mention it in the podcast so you get the picture)
Milano, on the Via Monte Napoleone in the heart of the city...One of the leading streets in Europe for high end fashion retailers.
Love the whole mood around the area of Corso Venezia, Milan
Just near the Porta Venezia where I spent some time just people watching, a great part of the city to visit at any time of the year
Milano Centrale, one of the most fascinating railway stations in Italy to visit and explore
The historical details of Milano Centrale where the relics of Mussolini are still evident today, and certainly a part of the fabric and heritage of the city. This image was taken on the outside of the train station.
When in Milano Centrale don’t forgot to look up and examine the sculptural details of the stations interior. Obviously there are elements that mirror the fascist regime and are a part of Italy's vast history. There is a memorial site you can visit to acknowledge "Binaro 21" and the Holocaust in the station called Memoriale della Shoah. I have not visited this site but plan to the next time I am in Milan.
I always find train stations to be the most interesting places, particularly central stations anywhere in the world
On the way to Turin at the end of this travel share I explore the city and make it in my best interest to visit a few of the historic cafes in Turin, Piemonte. Turin was the capital of Italy at the time of Italian Unification in 1861. That was soon to change but certainly it is a beautiful pedestrian city that people love when they visit, but I will talk more about that in Part 2 coming very soon.

Music Composed by Richard Johnston

On the Corso Venezia, Italy always surprises me, so much history...
On the Via Sopergo Milano for morning coffee, it is certainly always the simple moments for me, having breakfast and listening to the musical currents of the locals talking and visiting for an espresso and a quick take away cornetto "in slip of a serviette". I love the traditions in Italy, always they keep me smiling.....
The “The Apple Made Whole Again” I mentioned in the podcast in the Piazza Duca d'Aosta at Milano Centrale is quite the vision. Created by the artist Michelangelo Pistoletto.
