Episode 16: Bringing Italy Home - The Spirit of Place......Books and Movies to Enjoy
Welcome to Episode #16:
I have had this idea buzzing around in my head for some time now. Little did I know it would be the perfect antidote for these times.....Well antidote for you or me I don't know but whatever the case I have been an armchair traveler all of my life in truth. It wasn't until my twenties that I had the opportunity to go to another country and then after a solid trip away fell into study and then motherhood and all of the wonders of the world had to be enjoyed from books and magazines at home......
So yes, I am a believer in the spiritual sustenance that books and movies and magazines for that matter can provide when you may not be able to physically be in a place. Travel memoirs are the perfect balm for a little escape when necessary and perhaps over the years I have fortified myself with a plate of armchair adventure quite regularly.
I have come to realise over the years just how much these books, narratives and images have fed my spirit and allowed a sort of dream to live in my imagination of not only what is possible but what is available in the here and now.
I personally love books and movies and that is why I am sharing these favourites today.........just to feed the muse and taste the spirit of Italy through film, travel books and memoirs that inspire. They teach and open one to the beauty of a place. Let that transport you for now.
