At home in my kitchen….

Welcome to Episode #109:

Some of the most delicious parts of this journey over the many years of loving Italy is the way it slowly became a part of my every day life. At home I see the art, the ceramics, the candle holders, the table ware, the cookbooks, the coffee table and Italian design books and my favourite coffee mugs that I enjoy using daily (let’s not forget the true force in my life - the 10 cup Bialetti Moka Pot) and everything else I have collected along the way have played a beautiful role on this Italian journey.

There is magic in the every day mundane details of our lives and the joy we feel when we see these beautiful momentos from the travels and the inspiration we have felt to acquire such an object. Today’s share is a revel in how Italy has been just as important at home for me as it is as a place in the world.

A favourite Ricotta, Amaretti and Burnt Sugar Cake - Sorta di Ricotta e Amaretti Brûlée from Skye McAlpine’s beautiful evocative cookbook 'A Table in Venice - Recipes from my Home'
From my kitchen table where the magic lives…
In the kitchen making focaccia inspired by my summer glut of tomatoes to make something simple for lunch - the joy of Italy over flows into all aspects of my life, from cooking to art to reading, travel and musing over subjects for the podcast and enjoying the good life at home in Australia....

The books and the daily rituals that inspire me along the way are all important elements to living a beautiful contented life, enjoying what I have at home and revelling in the beauty of my favourite objects that really do make me happy every single day!
Seasonal notes in the kitchen and making Tuscan ricciarelli biscuits to give as small simple gifts for Christmas, these little details are evocative of making time and making things that people enjoy and I get to eat too! Yum.

Quite time reading my favourite books on Italy is always a beautiful thing in my world - this is one of my favourite all time books - A Castle in Tuscany by Sarah Benjamin
The joy of buying another book inspired by Italian Culture - I do like this for the fact that J.J Martin reflects on how Italy changed her life (with some resistance at first) and how she made a life living in Milano. And it’s visually stunning, a fun and beautiful read - Mamma Milano by J.J Martin
